The Radio Dept. je indie pop bend iz Švedske. Formirali su ga dva prijatelja 1995., Elin Almered i Johan Duncanson. Ime su uzeli sa znaka na jednoj benzinskoj stanici »Radioavdelningen« (The Radio Department na švedskom). Do 1998. bend nikad nije imao stalne svirke niti snimke. Tek 1998. Johan Duncanson sa Martin Larssonom obnavlja bend pod istim imenom. 2001 priključila im se Larssonova djevojka Lisa Carlberg na basu, Per Blomgren na bubnjevima i Daniel Tjader na klavijaturama.
Dotad su snimali samo po skladištima, demo studijima a snimili su samo 4 pisme.
2001. u časopisu Sonic izlazi članak o njima i jedna pisma. Tu ih primjećuju Labrador Records i primaju pod svoju label. Izdaju album Lesser Matters i This Past Week EP, sa poznatijim pismama "Pulling Our Weight", "I Don't Like It Like This" i "Keen on Boys".
2006. izdaju novi album Pet Grief, sa novim zvukom ovaj put bez bas gitaristice i sa puno više upotrebe sintesajzera.

Zvuk podsjeća na bendove shoegazera i twee popa, a reviewovi ih uspoređuju sa bendovima poput Pet Shop Boysa, My Bloody Valentine i Cocteau Twins.
A šta je taj zvuk? Smile

Za njega je prvenstveno karakteristična upotreba efekata na gitari, distorzija i slč. uz melodične vokale. (najpoznatiji shoegaze bendovi: Cocteau Twins, Spacemen 3 i Jesus and Mary Chain, te My Bloody Valentine pod čijim utjecajem je i nastao).

neznam, mozda bi bilo bolje da stavim Dream Pop, možda je više ljudi čulo za to. ugl, shoegaze, dream pop, twee pop to su vam sve nazivi za sličnu muziku. većinom to ovisi o mjestu na kojem se pojavilo.

ma najlakše je to sve jednostavno nazvat new wave i gotova priča... a ako su noviji, onda igra indie pop Very Happy

zato sam i stavila da je radio dept indie pop. tako i je vecina modernijih. ak budem pisala o starijima stavit cu sta im je prikladnije.

ma znam da je cuddlecore twee pop, samo nisam u početku zna šta je twee pop, jer on nije američki Very Happy

mislim da je naziv twee pop samo za europu... ili ne?

jep, nastao je u Velikoj Britaniji. inače prati ga event kad je izašla kazeta u New Musical Express časopisu poznata kao C86 (1986.god.). Bendovi koji sviraju na toj kazeti se prvi označavaju kao twee pop Smile

eto malo lekcija iz povijesti Very Happy

eh sad bi vam ih jos mogla dat mali miljun o indie-u i svemu Sad
